Nope, his statement is not only incorrect but it is also highly hypocritical coming from the Repeal of the 8th Amendment advocates who only care about giving women one solution for an unwanted pregnancy, which is abortion. Pro-lifers are vastly involved in bettering people’s lives, but they put their efforts to defending the right to life because that is the first step to taking care of everyone.

Image result for postnatal careIf we want to look at who is doing what for whom then sorry, but the pro-choice movement are down. They can complain about pro-lifers but they are the ones who offer little to no care for woman and children post birth.1 Pro-abortion groups in Ireland seem to be concerned only with family planning, such as when or when not to get an abortion, not the care of those who choose life and have just given birth.

Take the Irish Family Planning Association for instance. If you go on to their website they promote a number of different counseling services for pregnancies and even more for abortions and post-abortion care. Well what about post-birth counseling services? Are woman who choose life not worthy of some help after they have given birth? It appears the repeal the 8th supporters don’t think these women are.

Pro-lifers believe these woman and children should be looked after, and just because they do not wave banners and hold marches all the time for the born, does not mean they do not contribute to bettering the lives of others.

If a pro-life activist doesn’t support every social fund or charity, does that mean they don’t care for the living? Would they rather those people just die? Of course not! Many pro-life organisations do support other charities and do a multitude of service for those in tough situations.

“Pro-life people operate schools, hospitals, orphanages, adoption agencies, clinics, food pantries, and too many other charitable efforts to list. All of these things are possible because of the ongoing efforts of good people who have decided to dedicate themselves in a special way to one of these missions of charity.”2 Yet pro-lifers only care for people till they are born?

Pro-life activist choose to stand tall for the right to life of the unborn and more often than not make donations and contributions to other charities that work on developing better communities.

The pro-life movement puts the right to life first and foremost because with out this right there can be no others. “The entire philosophy and theology of the pro-life movement is love, care, and respect for every person no matter how old or young, rich or poor, color, race, or religion.”3
